Today was spent visiting Caernarfon Castle to start with followed by a trip to Llanberis to visit the National Slate Museum. It was another great day and all children ended up exhausted and ready for bed when they got home. But there was no time for bed as there still lots of activities to be getting on with. Tower building, card games and a quiz ended the day off nicely.

Rosewood at Llyn Brenig
Today Rosewood went off to llyn Brenig in the morning for a trek around the reservoir. It was a good 6 mile walk around, including a stone skimming contest, watching how fish enter the food chain and seeing some Medieval sites. Lunch at the visitor centre followed, then a quick play at the park before back to Plas Nantglyn to complete the orienteering course. A few did manage to get lost but luckily all were found and completed the course in a respectable time. Then it was a quick turnaround and they headed off to the Prestatyn swimming pool followed by chips on the beach!

After spending the day at Liverpool Docks (including Hard Knocks in Victorian Times) they arrived at Plas Nantglyn at 5:30pm in time for tea and a walk around the village. Today they went off to Plas Y Brenin in Capel Curig to do abseiling, canoeing and rock climbing. Great fun was had by all and a massive game of football-rounders finished the day off nicely.

A day at Plas Nant Glyn
A day at Plas Nant Glyn Thursday 13th June 2013
This morning we enjoyed a late breakfast of sausage and beans and spent some time working on our scrap books.
Afterwards, we were given a map of the local area and sent on an orienteering expedition in the pouring rain. To say we got drenched would be an understatement!!!
We were sent out in our day groups, in 5 minute intervals and had to follow the map around the course. Unfortunately a few groups did lose their way and one even ended up on the wrong side of a field! Luckily, some well-placed staff managed to direct them onto the correct course and all children and adults arrived back safely (eventually)!
We were treated to a lovely lunch of burgers and then enjoyed an afternoon of activities outside, once the rain had subsided. Games included the Wide game, where we were searching for different coloured discs to obtain maximum points, a code breaking game, a bottle-run course and dam building. The teachers managed to smash their bottle-run record and did the course in a record 41 seconds!
By the end of the day we were all completely soaked and ready for a warm shower.

Fun at the beach and Conwy Castle.
Fun at the beach and Conwy Castle. Wednesday 12th June 2013
This morning, following a delicious breakfast of fishcakes and tomatoes, we spent an hour writing in our scrap books. At around 10am we were collected by our coach driver, Gwyn, who took us to the beach at Colwyn Bay, where we spent time paddling in the sea (with hundreds of jellyfish!!!), making sand sculptures and eating our lunch (sand-wiches ;-) ).
After lunch, we then went to Conwy Castle where we were taken on a tour of the ruins by a very informative guide called Neil. We were shown 13 different hand signals to help us to remember the various stages of the tour. We all managed to then spend our pocket money in one of the three Gift shops. Some very interesting presents are on their way home!
The evening comprised of some free-time playing in the stream, on the rope swing and with the football (which goes without saying!).
Bed time was at 9.30pm after another of Mr Welch's amusing bedtime stories.

Sandhills at Stars Activity Centre
Sandhills at Stars Activity Centre
Today we set off for Denbigh to experience seven and a half hours of P.E! Our activities included climbing, caving, aeroball (basketball on a trampoline!), crate-stacking, archery and team-building games. Leya set the record for crate-stacking, balancing on a whopping 13 rows of crates! We've seen the future Robin Hoods, the next Michael Jordan, Mark Cobb's climbing apprentices and the next Nobel Peace prize winners (but enough about the staff!).
We arrived back, exhausted, at Plas Nantglyn ready for a hearty meal. After dinner we wrote our letters home and had a much needed shower!
Tomorrow Sandhills are off to the beach and a visit to Conwy Castell. Fingers crossed that the sun continues to shine!

Sandhills arrive
Sandhills have arrived at Plas Nantglyn
We had a great trip to North Wales today, all children were well on the coach and brilliantly behaved. We stopped at Telford services and did our first team building exercise - coming up with a team song! Gower Power was very catchy.
When we arrived at Plas Nantglyn we had a tour around the beautiful grounds and unpacked. We had a great tea and then went out in the grounds for our next team building event.
The children had to design and make an outfit for four of their group using a range of given materials and anything they could find in the grounds, we were impressed with the teamwork and creative designs.
